Cleanliness Tick Tick Tick Tick

I'm sorry to say that I was fairly unimpressed with the House of Ullr for the following reasons: - Check in: we knew the check in time was 3pm but we thought maybe we could ask reception about overnight parking etc. the reception was unmanned but there was a sign advising guests to call a particular number in the event that no one was at reception. the number given went straight to the reception phone...which was unmanned (???). We ended up getting someone's attention - he may have been the owner. Very unfriendly and just barely helpful. Eventually there was a woman at reception - she was very friendly and helpful during our stay. - The room was on the top floor and pretty average - but it was definitely clean and functional. But, the bathroom door not only didn't lock but couldn't be closed (had to keep it closed with a bin) and on the second night, there was no hot water..just cool/tepid water. Not great when you've had a long day skiing and its 2 degrees outside. Wanted to call reception to let them know but there wasn't a phone in the room. - Breakfast was average at best. Quality of food not great - again, just functional. Probably just personal preference, but I don't particularly like breakfast in the form of a canteen i.e. you hand your plate to someone, you elect what you want and they hand it back to you - and not surprisingly, there was a somewhat minimalist approach to what you got served. If it's going to be a "buffet", make it self-service. - Parking is definitely a problem - but it was well advertised that there was no parking available, so not any fault of the hotel. In future though, I won't stay at a place with no overnight parking. - Location is excellent. I very much appreciate that Blue Powder gave us an almost 50% discount (due to administrative/internet errors - hence the value rating of poor, not very poor!) but I have to say, if I had paid the full price for House of Ullr i.e. about $636 per night, I would be absolutely furious. I cannot even imagine how they could charge $600/night for a twin/double room with no parking, that doesn't have a fully functional bathroom door, no telephone and doesn't ensure there is hot water at all times (at the very least, in winter). Needless to say, I will definitely not be staying at House of Ullr again and I will not be recommending it to anyone either.
